The next step
It couldn't be easier. Just email us with the outline of your story - no more than 1000 words - being sure to include a note on whether you have pictures of all the relevant people and things relating to your story.
For example, if your story is about finding your long-lost dad, it would be useful to have pictures of him, pictures of you as a child and pictures of your dad when you last saw him.
You should also include your full contact details - including all your telephone numbers - and an idea of when would the best time to call.
One of our reporters will then contact you within 24 hours to go over the facts of your story, answer any questions you have and let you know if we can represent your story. We won't waste your time - if we don't think we can sell your story, we won't take you on as a client. But if we do represent you we will tell you how the whole process works over the phone so you know exactly what comes next. We want to ensure you are 100 per cent happy with your media experience.
We will contact all the papers and magazines we think may be interested in printing your story and contact you again when we've landed a deal. We will then write your story and send it to you so you can check over all the facts before it goes anywhere else. That means you stay in control all the time. You will be paid directly by the newspaper or magazine after publication and since our service is free, there are no hidden costs. If you are promised £500, you get £500.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to speak to us in person, call 020 7703 8000 anytime and we will call you straight back to save on your phone bills.
Please be aware that most publications will want to take their own up-to-date pictures of you.

Dear First Features,
How do I ensure I'm happy with what goes in the paper or magazine?
"A fantastic job! If anyone else is thinking about selling their story, they should definitely use First Features."
